EASTAR Health System is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2012 Summer Junior Volunteer Program. Orientation and training will be held at the Medical Center on June 4 and June 5 from 1:00- 4:00 pm each day. The summer program will run from June 4 through July 27th. “They are so enthusiastic about helping others; it’s really a treat to have them here each year. And their energy is contagious.” said Volunteer Services Director Andrea Wilcoxen. “Our staff and patients really enjoy their presence. And our adult volunteers appreciate the extra help! I keep them busy on projects that benefit our patients in so many ways.”
All applicants must meet the following requirements: 14 years old by September 1, 2012, must obtain an application from the Volunteer Services Department and return the form by May 4, Must provide a copy of birth certificate and immunization records, Complete a health record and confidentiality form, Provide three reference letters from people other than their parents, Complete orientation and training on the dates listed above.
Once chosen for the program, Junior Volunteers must be able to work four hours per week during June and July (Volunteers are excused for family vacations, school and church-related camps and activities), provide their own uniform which consists of khaki pants and an EASTAR Health t-shirt which can be purchased at orientation, and comply with hospital rules and code of conduct as well as the rules of the Volunteer Services Department.
