At EASTAR Health System, we understand the advantages of home healthcare and the importance of “home.” A home is more than just a place where you live. It represents your independence and your life. EASTAR Health Services has a plan of healthcare to meet your medical needs while allowing you the convenience, comfort and cost-efficiency of remaining at home, many times shortening or eliminating a hospital stay. EASTAR Health Home Health Services provides each client with a personal program of care planned by his or her doctor and a staff of skilled health professionals. Nurses provide a wide variety of services such as dressing changes following surgery, catheter care, injections, IV therapy, chemotherapy and physical assessments. Other staff members such as physical therapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists and home health aides are available to help with other needs a client may have.
A Wide Array of Services, Fully Accredited and Certified
In addition, home health services are now provided in the areas of prenatal and postnatal obstetrical care, newborn and pediatric care, pain management, psychiatric care, and rehabilitation services. A social worker is available to provide assistance to patients in the areas of social and emotional assessment, community resource planning and referral, advance directives, counseling for short-term and long-range planning, crisis intervention and coping skills. A registered dietitian is also available as a nutritional consultant for clients receiving radiation or chemotherapy, and other nutritional needs.
EASTAR Health Services Home Health Services is hospital based, which allows for closer relationships among the home health professional and the patient, family, and physician. We are state licensed, fully accredited by The Joint Commission and Medicare certified. Services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, VA, and most insurance companies.
Qualification Criteria
To qualify for our services, a patient must meet the following criteria:
- The patient must be homebound
- Care must be ordered by a physician
- The patient must require skilled care
- Care must be intermittent
- The patient must live within the 50-mile radius service area
