Clinical Laboratory
EASTAR Health Services’s Clinical Laboratory is staffed by personnel certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. The Lab is divided into five designated sections, each of which deals with a different area of laboratory science: Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Microbiology and Histology.
Laboratory services are provided at EASTAR Health Services to conduct tests on clinical specimens from patients.
Laboratory testing provides valuable information to the physician to help in the diagnosing, treating and prevention of disease.
With a commitment to quality and accuracy, the Clinical Laboratory is surveyed by the College of American Pathologists. These surveys are performed by a Pathologist and certified peer technologists. Our Laboratory is proud to have six technologists that are certified inspectors. The Joint Commission also inspects the lab in conjunction with the hospital inspection. All inspections and certifications are done to assure that the laboratory offers the highest possible quality of patient testing.
The Clinical Laboratory is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. While out patient testing can be performed at any time it is recommended that it be performed Monday through Friday from 7am to 6pm. During these times the admission process and collection of the specimen is more timely and convenient for the out patient.
